Robert M. Young Online Writings'What if Human Nature Is Historical' 116k. At the end of the 1970s I wrote a series of speculative essays, 'Science Is Social Relations', 'How Societies Constitute Their Knowledge' and this one, probably the most exploratory. Other things, in particular, a series of television documentaries, took over my life, and I never published it or even knew where I might. So it has languished. I think only a couple of friends have seen it before its appearance on the web. However, although some of its rhetoric is dated, I still think well of it. It moves from pure ideology about changing human nature to using biofeedback as a tansitional topic to spelling out the desiderata for treating human nature as an historical project. I have left it in draft form and will provide detailed references if asked. |
